  • Gut Intuition is a restorative herbal blend that may aid in the healing of the gut lining (leaky gut). The combination of these proprietary herbs works best for people who suffer from unpleasant symptoms of gut dysbiosis (leaky gut), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), irregular bowel movements/ constipation, Crohn’s disease, colitis, or gastritis. This blend may also provide gentle support to the gut microbiome and improve overall gut health.

Below is a description of each herb used in this blend with specific details on how it works for your digestive system and other systems in the body.

Meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria)—Analgesic (anodyne), antacid, anti-inflammatory, and stomachic properties. Salicin, a compound comparable to aspirin, is contained in meadowsweet and can exhibit a similar response in the body, but without the negative side effects of synthetic pain killers. Although it is not fast acting, and can take 6-8 hours to notice a benefit, it can be effective at lessening pain and inflammation. It can also act as a natural antacid and settle the stomach. Meadowsweet contains silica, which is a trace mineral found in joints, bones, teeth, skin, eyes, glands, and organs. Meadowsweet’s silica compounds can contribute to the overall health and integrity of the connective tissues in the body.

Plantain Leaf (Plantago major)Antiseptic, antivenomous, astringent, decongestant, demulcent (mucilant), drawing, emollient, and vulnerary properties. Plantain is a common lawn and garden weed but is a wonderful remedy when taken internally for inflammatory bowel disorders and ulcers.

Chamomile Flowers (Chamomilla recutita, Matricaria recutita) —Antispasmodic, aromatic, carminative, diaphoretic, digestive tonic, and nervine properties. Chamomile can work well as an effective gastric anti-inflammatory, as it can aid in expelling gas, settling the stomach, and calming down the nerves. This herb can also work as an anti-inflammatory remedy for infection, swelling, and pain, especially when combined with other nervines.

Ginger Root (Zingiber officinale)—Analgesic (anodyne), anti-emetic (anti-nauseous), aromatic, carminative, counterirritant, diaphoretic, digestive tonic, and circulatory stimulant properties. When taken with or after meals, ginger root can accelerate the digestive system to create healthy secretions. Ginger root is known to promote immune function, enhance emission of gastric fluids and bile movement. Ginger root can also inhibit platelet accumulation which in turn can increase blood flow and distribution.

Calendula Flowers (Calendula officinalis)Astringent and vulnerary properties. Calendula can be a very useful remedy for inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract. For people who endure painful symptoms from Crohn’s disease, colitis, and gastritis, calendula can work as a very specific remedy for those conditions and can provide great relief.

Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)Anti-inflammatory, antiviral, diaphoretic, febrifuge, hemostatic, and vulnerary properties. Yarrow also has antispasmodic properties and can be used to alleviate pain from both stomach and menstrual cramps. When combined with ginger, it can notably reduce the pain from stomach cramping. Yarrow has a bitter taste and is a bitter herb. Bitter herbs can help support digestion by promoting the secretion of digestive enzymes, by stimulating liver function.

Orange Peel (Citrus sinensis)—Aromatic, bitter, carminative, decongestant, and digestive tonic properties. Orange peel is aromatic and bitter. It is commonly known for its ability to support digestion and stimulate appetite. Orange peel is a great addition to remedies and formulas that support the digestive system.
