Below is a list of the herbs used in this proprietary blend, and how these plant allies thoughtfully support each other to provide you with lessened symptoms of anxiety, depression, and stress.

Catnip (Nepeta cataria)—Aromatic, carminative, diaphoretic, nervine, and sedative properties. Catnip is an herb that is great for settling the stomach and calming your nerves. It can aid in supporting the nervous system by relieving anxiety, stress, and nervousness. It can also be helpful as a sleep aid.

Hops (Humulus lupulus)— Analgesic (anodyne), aphrodisiac, antacid, anthelminthic, anti-spasmodic, nervine, phytoestrogen, sedative, and soporific (hypnotic) properties. Hops is a potent nervine and sleep aid. When combined with other carminatives, it can be an excellent remedy for settling a nervous, acidic stomach. Hops works best on people with poor digestion, an irritated nervous system, and insomnia.

Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis)—Antidepressant, antiseptic, antithyrotropic, antiviral, aromatic, carminative, diaphoretic, and nervine properties. Lemon balm can help enhance sleep, alleviate depression and sadness, calm mania and hysteria, and boost memory and concentration. This wonderful herb also has a long-standing reputation for calming the nerves or spirit. It can also be helpful for nervousness that affects the heart and digestion. Lemon balm is aromatic with a lemony scent and a slight astringent action. For the types of people who are always on the go and tend to become easily overstimulated, lemon balm is the perfect calming herb. It can work exceptionally well on the overactive mind and body. Lemon balm is advised for people whose systems are in constant overdrive, as it can aid in lessening the symptoms of an over-worked nervous system, such as the physical symptoms of heart palpitations, high blood pressure, manic thoughts, and shortness of breath.

Blue Vervain (Verbena hastata (blue vervain), V. officinalis (vervain)—Bitter, diaphoretic, diuretic, expectorant, hypotensive, nervine and relaxant properties. Blue vervain has long since been acknowledged as a complete herbal treatment, as its dispersing effect makes it excellent for any condition in which tension or restricted energy creates pathology. Blue vervain can be used internally to calm the nerves and alleviate anxiety. For people who are very detail oriented and have extreme, hard-driving personalities, blue vervain can be the perfect remedy, as it can be very beneficial for nervous exhaustion from long-term stress which tends to be common with this personality type. Additionally, people who endure surface and peripheral nervous system problems may also find relief from blue vervain.

Passionflower (Passiflora incarata, P. quadrangularis)—Nervine, relaxant, and sedative properties. When combined with other nervines, passionflower (a relaxing nervine), can help aid sleep, decrease tension, and stress or help to alleviate muscle twitching and/or spasms. It also works to quiet an active mind with racing thoughts. Passionflower can be a supportive remedy for on-edge agitation in the mind/body and for overall exhaustion.

Ashwagandha Root (Withania somnifera)—Adaptogen, anti-inflammatory, antidepressant, and nervine properties. Ashwagandha is one of the most valued medicinal herbs in ayurvedic medicine and one of India’s most prized nervine and adrenal tonic adaptogens. This amazing herb can be used for a wide range of conditions including exhaustion, poor muscle tone, depression, anxiety, insomnia, sexual debility, fatigue, stress, infertility, memory loss, asthma, and arthritis. Ashwagandha is commonly admired as a grounding and restoring tonic that can decrease the effects of stress while promoting vitality and vigor. The root of the plant specifically addresses the fundamental triggers of insomnia, especially if insomnia occurs due to excessive tension or worry.

Skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora)—Nervine tonic, antianxiety, hypnotic, anodyne, and antispasmodic properties. Skullcap encourages deep, restful sleep; yet it is not overly sedating, and many people use the herb throughout the day to help alleviate pain, restlessness, or anxiety. This herb can be an excellent remedy for calming anxiety and lowering stress during heightened situations. Skullcap can also be used to lessen teeth grinding and clenching at night and help reduce overall tension in the jaw. It is also known to help relieve muscle cramps throughout the body. Skullcap can also be beneficial for helping to alleviate tension headaches, back pain, twitching muscles, and sore and tight muscles.

California Poppy (Eschscholzia californica)—Analgesic (anodyne), sedative, and soporific (hypnotic) properties. California poppy is a relative of the opium poppy and has mild sedative and analgesic properties but is not narcotic or addictive! California poppy is outstanding in gently establishing balance in the body and calming stress, tension, anxiety, insomnia, pain, and nervousness. California poppy contains a wide range of plant compounds, one specifically called alkaloids. Alkaloid compounds act on GABA receptors, which are distributed throughout your central nervous system. GABA receptors respond to the neurotransmitter amma aminobutyric acid (GABA), which prevents neuron firing.  Overall, California poppy supports the calming of the mind without depressing the central nervous system.

Chamomile Flowers (Chamomilla recutita, Matricaria recutita) —Antispasmodic, aromatic, carminative, diaphoretic, digestive tonic, and nervine properties. This wonderful herb can work as a mild sedative and can aid in a better night’s sleep. Chamomile is also known to support the nervous system by settling nerves and creating a calming effect in the body.
